EMAIL ME

Helma Sawatzky is an artist, graphic designer and musician who lives in Surrey BC, Canada. In 1991, she completed a Bachelor of Music degree in her country of birth, the Netherlands. Sawatzky is currently finishing a BFA at Emily Carr Institute, Vancouver BC.

In her years as a singer-songwriter and performing artist, Sawatzky recorded three albums. Her current creative focus is in the visual arts. She works in photography, painting, mixed media sculpture and performance. Her work explores notions of the ‘virtual’ and the ‘real’ as they play out in everyday life, as well as ideas around the various presences and impacts of consumer culture on the environment.
