ABOUT THE WORK
Many of us spend more and more time sitting behind computer screens, fondling keyboards and mice as if our lives depended on it - and maybe they do... Our experience of community seems to be shifting from getting together with friends for a cup of coffee to spending many hours online in Internet chat rooms. We freely share the intimate details of our lives with people we have never actually met. Even our vocabulary surrounding relationships is changing as we communicate in ever evolving cyber shorthand.
Circle of Friends explores this idea of ‘disembodied community’ in which all meaning is suspended in a seemingly infinite stream of ones and zeros.
